Nutrition

We work in collaboration with experienced nutritionist and encourage parent involvement to create menus that are delicious, colourful and nutritious.

Our outdoor learning environments include vegetable patched, herb gardens and fruit trees that allow children to watch their food grow and foster conversations about nutrition.  The children take part in taking care of the gardens and together with out sustainability leader harvest the produce and deliver it straight to the kitchen for our cooks to use.  The children are invited regularly to share in cooking experiences with our centre cook to always ensure that conversation are being encouraged around nutrition and “fuel for our bodies”.

Mealtime Rituals

Mealtimes are regarded as important rituals rather than set routines.  Children are supported to enjoy meals together in small groups when they are hungry though progressive mealtimes.

Authentic eating utensils and real crockery allow children to develop their independence and physical skills while enjoying the social aspect of mealtimes.  Older children participate fully in the mealtime ritual by self-serving their meals and scraping and rinsing their bowls when they have had enough to eat.

Our Kitchen

We provide a delicious 4-week rotating seasonal menu, carefully designed to meet children’s daily nutrition requirements.  Our service is allergy-aware and all staff handling food are required to complete mandatory food safety training.  Children are encouraged to have a say in their favourite meals by casting a weekly vote to ensure the menu is always appetising to them.

Our kitchen is not just for our children, our centre cooks home make a variety of ‘grab and go’ breaky options for our busy parents too.
